Roaring Resilience. Quiet Confidence.

I’m Syd Chavez, a Chicago-based strength coach and personal trainer. I became a trainer because I wanted to help people become the best version of themselves. After being side-lined by a back injury, I realized how easy it is to take the littlest things for granted and how incredibly important movement is for the human body and spirit. Through strength training, I discovered what it meant to live relentlessly – not just when things are going well, but when the cards are stacked against you.

Training Philosophy

Obsidian is a black volcanic stone that is said to provide protection from negative energy and attachment, and is used to cut ties to old patterns that do not serve a purpose. Much like the protection properties of obsidian, I view training as a proactive way to protect ourselves from preventable diseases and injuries. Not only can strength training build stronger bodies, it can help equip us with the physical and mental toughness needed to carry out everyday activities with easy and ensure longevity. I also view training as a tool used to cut ties with destructive habits that jeopardize ones ability to be the best version of themself. There’s a level of self respect that we carry when we prioritize our health over old patterns that do not serve a purpose in our lives. It is my goal as a coach to not only help my clients become physically and mentally strong, but to also ignite the fire in them to become something bigger than themselves.
